Client Projects

Hatchery Planning has been providing design and equipment to the poultry industry since the early 1950’s. In more recent times since 1995 we have been involved with over 600 projects in the hatchery industry. Hatchery Planning considers a “project” as any work that requires engineering or project management. We have not included any parts and service orders in these numbers. We would like to showcase some notable recent projects that we thought may interest you. These projects are listed with the most recent project first.

Cobb USA Hatcheries

Wadesboro, NC - Blairsville, GA. - Cleveland, GA. - Rose, OK.

In 2010 and 2011 Hatchery Planning provided controls for several of the Cobb Hatcheries in the USA. Hatchery Planning technicians installed controls in these hatcheries to control and monitor heating, cooling, rooms pressure and plenum pressures. By using the features of the Titan series of controls, these hatcheries have the opportunity for better overall control and energy savings that will offer a payback of less than one year in many cases.

Hy-Line North America

Iowa

In early 2010 Hy-Line International decided to build a new pedigree hatchery in Iowa. Hatchery Planning acted a project manager for Hy-Line. Working with the owner, we developed a complete set of bid and construction drawings for the 12,000 square foot hatchery. We assisted the customer in qualifying the contractor’s bids and this allowed them to choose the project general contractor. We acted as the owner’s representative throughout the project and fielded questions from the contractor during construction. Hatchery Planning provided the building ventilation systems including our heat recovery system, chiller systems and boiler systems. We included all associated controls, pumps, etc. for these systems. In addition to this equipment we provided all of the hatchery automation for the facility.

Hy-Line North America

Iowa

For this project Hatchery Planning worked with the owner to upgrade the existing ventilation system in the building. We provided new equipment and controls and modified the existing piping system to include our state of the art heat recovery system. This building is approximately 80,000 square feet and we working in almost every room providing improvements. In the previous year Hatchery Planning has provided a new automation system for the facility.

Hy-Line North America

Texas

This recent project was designed in 2011. It involves adding production to an existing hatchery in Texas. During this project we will assist the customer in adding incubation equipment to the facility without adding building square footage. This is especially challenging since space is always a premium in a hatchery. Included in this project are new ventilation systems in certain rooms, new boiler system designs, new chiller designs and some new automation equipment all provided by Hatchery Planning. The original hatchery is approximately 40,000 square feet. The area we are working in for this project consist of approximately 10,000 square feet.

Pilgrims Hatchery

San Luis Potosi, Mexico

Pilgrims, Inc. approached Hatchery Planning in 2011 for assistance in planning an expansion to their existing facility. Hatchery Planning provided a new ventilation system, chiller system and boiler system for the expansion. This ventilation system we provided consisted of equipment to properly ventilation 7 rooms of the building including 3 new incubator rooms with single stage machines, 3 new hatcher rooms and a renovated chick room. The chiller system we provided consists of a 120 ton system using 3 – 40 ton units for redundancy, a large stainless steel mixing tank designed and built by Hatchery Planning and a pumping system with back-up pumps included. The boiler system will feed the incubators with hot water heat in lieu of the more common electric heat provided in incubation systems. This system also included our state of the art HatchNet software package for controls and monitoring of the room conditions.

Fries Farms Hatchery

Glennville, GA.

This project involved a 4000 square foot expansion onto the existing facility. Hatchery Planning worked with Fries as the project manager. We developed a complete set of bid and construction drawings. We assisted the customer in qualifying the contractor’s bids. We acted as the owner’s representative throughout the project and fielded questions from the contractor during construction. Hatchery Planning provided a ventilation system for the new areas and a new humidity system sized for the entire building. We also included the HatchNet software package for monitoring of all room and machine conditions.

Pfizer

Durham, NC.

This project was designed in 2011. Our main goal was to provide the Pfizer animal health research facility with advanced control systems for their existing ventilation system. This system included 14 zones of control within the facility and the HatchNet central software system for remote monitoring of these control functions.

Hy-Line North America

Indiana.

In early 2011 Hy-Line North America made the decision to add capacity to the Indiana hatchery. For this project, Hatchery Planning acted a project manager for Hy-Line. Working with the owner, we developed a complete set of bid and construction drawings for the 15,000 square foot expansion. We assisted the customer in qualifying the contractor’s bids and this allowed them to choose the project general contractor. We acted as the owner’s representative throughout the project and fielded questions from the contractor during construction. This project was completed on time and within the original budgets. Hatchery Planning also provided a large amount of equipment for this project. This included new ventilation systems including our heat recovery system, new chiller systems, new boiler systems. We included all associated controls, pumps, etc. for these systems. In addition to this equipment we provided a complete new automation system for the facility.

Tyson

Oglethorpe, GA

Hatchery planning provided a new controls system incoperating our Titan controllersand hatchnet software.  This system manages temp, humidity, room pressures, plenum pressures in a total of eleven zones.
